Fir...Ok, I'll take one for the rest of the girls... First, I just recently started bike commuting. I ride 9 miles home four days a week and I absolutely LOVE it and have hopes of eventually being able to commute both ways...

That being said...all sweat is not equal. I sweat easily. Always have. My son is in great physical shape and sweats like a maniac. We're thinking its genetic. Add some thin, fine hair to my sweaty self and helmet head is pretty darn bad!!

I wouldn't mind if I just had to towel off a little, but when you arrive fully drenched, it takes a little more planning and a blow dryer. Running a comb through my hair ain't gonna get it and I have a very low maintenance style!Dawnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07832184382350532556noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15336507.post-33697182494427909332008-10-23T10:30:00.000-08:002008-10-23T10:30:00.000-08:00errr - dont wear a helmet ?Just back from a weeks ...errr - dont wear a helmet ?
Just back from a weeks holiday in the Netherlands. Never seen a place where bikes are in so much general use. Tiny kids to ol' grannies, using bikes but not what I'd call "keen cyclists". Almost none wear helmets.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15336507.post-67079163293853629082008-10-22T21:42:00.000-08:002008-10-22T21:42:00.000-08:00Tim,Maybe "Timinator" you just kill me with some o...Tim,
Maybe "Timinator" you just kill me with some of the great insight and thought that goes into your postings. I would usually ride at a pace that got me warm, but not sweaty.

Relating to what Julie said, my favorite comment at work, during winter was usually something like, "You rode your bike today?" It really was annoying when it came from someone unobservant person that I've worked with for years. So I'd tell them "Yeah, I've been doing it for twenty years pluse. Where have you been?"

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about worrying about sweat and helmet hair. The last time I checked most guys like their women hot and sweaty with their hair all messed up.Grill Meisterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12702786649825113342noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15336507.post-28760352135303996592008-10-22T09:15:00.000-08:002008-10-22T09:15:00.000-08:00LOL, I love flagging motorcycles in the bike secti...LOL, I love flagging motorcycles in the bike section of CL. Sometimes they get moved, sometimes they don't. Oh, and whats with that electric BS add-on that keeps popping up from out of state. That ish annoys me even more the the MC's. More often then not, I am praised @ work for commuting via bicycle. The smell isn't that bad is it? ;pEscortRacerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04537098102889408151noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15336507.post-32543217601562144842008-10-22T09:10:00.000-08:002008-10-22T09:10:00.000-08:00I just arrived at work, sweaty and not only with h...I just arrived at work, sweaty and not only with helmet hair, but with a line across my head where my helmet clamps down on. I think I'm gonna be okay. Fuck that survey.

I love the comments I get like, "Soon it will be too cold for you to ride your bike to work..." Helmet hair? not really, teh messier the better I feel.
I rather sweat a little and have my senses exposed to the city, pedaling and feeling great, than be stuck in traffic.
My work is super cool and always compliments that I ride my bike. My boss (who is always driving to meetings/errands/etc) did ride for bike to work day because I ride everyday, and I was flattered!!! It was great :)MELI.https://www.blogger.com/profile/01871688353021351859noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15336507.post-57253345777205918392008-10-22T08:46:00.000-08:002008-10-22T08:46:00.000-08:00There are some definite advantages to hair loss, J...There are some definite advantages to hair loss, Jeff. I'm not even sure I would've been able to get a helmet on my head back then. Although the Aqua Net Ultra Super Hold Epoxy I put on my hair created a helmet all by itself!Jeff Moserhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13198489612535782394noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15336507.post-71101955262539432252008-10-22T08:18:00.000-08:002008-10-22T08:18:00.000-08:00Hey Tim,It's not only the girls. You didn't shower?!?!'-look that almost gives me a guilty enough conscience to keep me from riding...
And as for the helmet hair: i've tested this a while. A comb at work works. (geez! Most of those girls probably even have a mirror in their purse... What's in a comb?.). But I've found one hairdo impossible with the helmet because hairpins won't do good between your brain and helmet if you crash...
But if they can't get over that would you want them joining the bike community and changing our image...?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15336507.post-20443744426895235942008-10-22T07:47:00.000-08:002008-10-22T07:47:00.000-08:00There actually isn't a "bicycles" category on Crai...There actually isn't a "bicycles" category on Craigslist: It says "bikes", a word many people use to describe a motorcycle.

Of course, these is a category clearly marked "motorcycles", but many people don't read instructions, signs, lists, etc. all the way through before acting.Jonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15989502925369231042noreply@blogger.com
