I needed some time away from work and stress,
so I took a "mental health" day today.
It was a good move.
The sun is shining, the temperature is up
to a balmy 32, and the Hillside trails
are fast and smooth. Not that I bothered to ride fast.
My goal was to disappear for a while.
"Real life" is overrated. Everyone should spend more time
riding bikes and goofing off.

"Riding bikes and goofing off." Oh. OK. So...your daily routine of "going to the office and goofing off" isn't sufficient?
Riding weather report for tomorrow: sunny, 63 degrees, light winds. Yeah, I won't get to see snow-covered mountains, but...not a bad trade.
Calling in well....is that borrowed from Tom Robbins? He's one of my favorite authors.
Damn Straight!
I'm a fan of Tom Robbins too, Doug, but if that came from one of his novels, it was blind luck. Maybe it was stored away in the back of my brain.
My favorite Robbins line (well, there are many, actually): From the planet Jupiter, none of it counts for shit.
I've read all the of Tom Robbins novels and "calling in well" is in one of them, I can't remember which one. It was always one of my favorite lines from his books.
I think it's in "Another Roadside Attraction."
I love playing hookey.
good move!
It is indeed tom robbins however its from even cowgirls get the blues.
"You'd get the boss on the line and say 'listen, I've been sick ever since I started working here but today I'm well. I won't be in anymore.' Call in well."
